Job Description General Summary: This position is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of program policies and procedures related to the support and supervision of Individuals. Program Assistants review documentation and collect data for reporting purposes. The position produces individual assessments, annual Individual Service Plans (ISP---s) and semi-annual ISP---s. Program Assistants also provide support to the management team as needed. Essential Functions: Provides a person-centered approach to program development and documentation Assists in maintaining the program documentation in accordance with the Department of Development Services (---DDS---) guidelines Collects data from Individual Daily Notes to produce annual ISP---s and semi-annual ISP---s Maintains calendar of Individuals--- semi-annual and annual meeting dates and informs management of meeting dates Creates initial assessments and updates all assessments, semi-annual and annual ISP---s Maintains Individuals--- information regarding attendance, community integration activities, involvement in volunteer sites and education Review Individuals--- Individual Daily Notes (ID Notes) and update the ID Note electronic template as needed Maintains open lines of communication with Individuals and staff members Attends all required trainings and staff meetings essential for the position Maintains CIP Headquarters website, including any website-related assignments Performs all other duties and responsibilities, as assigned Core Competencies/Skill Sets Proven ability to exercise mature judgment and relate to Individuals with developmental disabilities and dual diagnoses in a warm and caring manner Working knowledge of state and federal laws, Regional Center, Department of Developmental Services and Titles 17 and 22 Knowledge of behavioral challenges, including aggressive, non-verbal, and self-injurious behaviors and the various techniques to de-escalate these behaviors Ability to work with a diverse group of people at all levels within the organization Effective planning and organizational skills to balance and prioritize assignments Demonstrates resourcefulness and comfortable performing multi-faceted projects in conjunction with daily duties Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills when working with Individuals, other team members and individuals--- circles of support Ability to communicate effectively with others, including participants, co-workers, and outside agency representatives Works collaboratively, positively, and with flexibility when interacting with others, including co-workers Ability to establish credibility and support the organization---s preferences and priorities Demonstrates compassion, friendliness, and patience while providing support and supervision of Individuals Ability to be diplomatic and professional in challenging situations Demonstrates effective writing skills to document Individuals--- progress Demonstrates flexibility and effective decision-making when faced with changing priorities REQUIRED EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE: Professional Experience/Education/Certifications : Minimum High School graduate or GED equivalent required Bachelor---s Degree or at least three (3) years of experience in a related field/subject and/or services preferred At least two (2) years of relevant experience working with Individuals that have intellectual, developmental disabilities, or severe behavioral challenges, or dual diagnoses required Experience in working in the administration of a special services program funded by the Regional Center preferred Certified in Non-violent Crisis Prevention required or must successfully complete in-house training Must have a current CPR and First Aid card or must successfully complete in-house training Must have Direct Support Professional I and II Certification or must successfully complete state-provided training within twelve (12) months of hire Completion of a minimum of 12 hours of continuing education units annually Ability to speak, read, and write in English is required. The ability to speak Spanish is highly desired. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work : The work for this position is primarily conducted in the company---s office. This position has occasional community work, depending on the needs of the individuals. This position is expected to meet the needs of the business and the assigned individuals and staff in the community. The employee may be required to kneel or stoop to access file cabinets. The employee is required to have visual (far and near visual acuity as well as peripheral vision) and hearing acuities. The employee may be required to lift, carry, push, and pull items such as wheelchairs. The employee may reach at or below shoulder level as well as reach overhead. The employee may be required to lift and/or transfer Individuals between sitting and standing. The employee will be required to perform these physical demands with or without the aid of mechanical devices sufficient to perform the essential position duties. Monday-Friday: 7am-3:30pm
