Digital Print Operator

Sir Speedy Whittier is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced individual to join our Digital Print Department. The ideal candidate must have a positive work ethic and work well with others. The Digital Press Operator will operate the Xerox 1300 Continuous Feed printer and/or the Canon 6330 cut sheet printer. Candidates must have a minimum of 1 year experience operating at least one of these digital presses or equivalent in a commercial environment.

Job Responsibilities of a Digital Print Operator:

Execute the print and manage the entire Xerox 1300 CF workflow for preparing the job for submission, including setting printer queues with appropriate imposition files, configuring applications in the operator GUI, ensuring print quality, density, and alignment are all within specifications, and managing the destination finisher for cutting and stacking. Perform daily maintenance and maintain the daily print job production logs. Escalate printer hardware issues to our service technicians. Support the efforts in a quick resolution to reduce downtime. Proof the print job prior to printing with the bindery department to insure proper setup. Monitor quality of job output for correctness and image quality.
Execute the print and manage the Canon 6330 cut-sheet printer workflow from file preparation to the product finishing. Setup print and destination specifications for stocks, imposition, feeding, and finishing per the job requirements. Utilize the features in the Canon GUI to manage the workflow. Monitor file correctness and print quality. Interact with service technicians to reduce downtime.

Job Qualifications:

1+ years of industry experience in operating a Xerox 1300 CF and/or Canon cut-sheet printers.
Detail oriented with ability to analyze and resolve print issues.
Ability to multi-task and maintain a positive attitude under tight deadlines.
Effective written and oral communications skills.
Willing to jump in and help the team with any task that needs to be handled.
Available to work overtime as needed.
High school diploma plus at least 1-year of relevant experience in a commercial print shop
Physically able to lift paper and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
The print operator may need to spend time standing, walking, lifting, and accessing various work areas including warehouse and shipping. The operator may occasionally perform tasks outside of this description to help the company meet customer needs.
