Job Description:
The AWS Center for Quantum Computing (CQC) is seeking a Sr.
Software Development Engineer to lead the technical direction of
our software team responsible for accelerating the hardware
operations flywheel. You will work closely with other Software
Development Engineers, Research Scientists, and a Technical Program
Manager. Key job responsibilities * You will lead the system
architecture design, introduce best practices and influence the
team’s long-term decisions to ensure high-quality products. You
will also mentor and develop other engineers. * You will work
directly with scientists and engineers to understand their problems
and propose workable solutions. Translate user stories into
software design documents demonstrating sensible trade-offs between
complexity and delivery. * You will design software and implement
it in a logical and maintainable manner. Taking ownership over the
stability and quality of the software stack by identifying,
proposing, and implementing features that will accelerate our
realization of quantum computing technologies. * You will identify
bottlenecks, pain points, integration issues, and develop
improvements to the fabrication team's workflows. We are looking
for candidates with strong engineering principles, resourcefulness,
a bias for action, superior problem-solving skills, and excellent
communication skills. Candidates should also possess a genuine
curiosity and readiness to grasp the domain knowledge of our
research scientists. Working effectively within a team environment
is essential. As a software engineer embedded in a research
organization, you will have the opportunity to work on new ideas
and contribute to the development of fault-tolerant quantum
computers. Example projects include: * Build and maintain data
streaming pipelines from our fabrication tools. * Deploying
forecasting ML models to production for predictive maintenance of
our fabrication tools. * Develop features for streamlining
fabrication planning, timeline estimation and retrospective
analysis of product flows. * Design database schemas modeling
processes and artifacts of our device lifecycle workflow About the
team You will be joining the Device Lifecycle software development
team within the AWS Center of Quantum Computing. Our team is
comprised of software engineers who are building software that
enables scaling up quantum computing technologies. BASIC
QUALIFICATIONS - 7 years of non-internship professional software
development experience - 7 years of programming with at least one
software programming language experience - 4 years of leading
design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling)
of new and existing systems experience - Experience as a mentor,
tech lead or leading an engineering team PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS -
Experience deploying ML models to production. - MSc or PhD in a
STEM discipline - Experience working with scientists in a research
or fabrication environment - Experience building software using AWS

the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base
pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest
geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic
market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market
location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills,
