Job Description:
The Radiation Therapist is responsible for coordinating the treatments to best serve the patients. This process includes assessment for treatments, simulations and continuity of care for the patient throughout the entire Radiation Therapy process.
Administers daily radiation treatments in a thorough, timely, respectful manner. Keeps the lines of communication open with co-workers, physicians, patients, their relatives, and volunteers. Is watchful of patient's physical, emotional, and mental state. Seeks assistance when necessary regarding any and all three states. Conducts themselves in a professional manner and has the ability to handle all tasks involved with patient treatments.

• Administers daily radiation treatments.
  
• Performs simulations.
  
• Constructs custom made blocks.
  
• Perform computer and hand dose calculations.
  
  5.Knows how to troubleshoot equipment problems.
  
  
• Serves as a link between patients, coworkers, physicians, families, and other departments. Checks patient's identification and questions the patient to obtain a patient history or pre-existing conditions.
  
• Always questions female patients regarding pregnancy. Documents all relevant information.
  
• Handles billing of daily treatments.
  
• Must have good interpersonal skills.
  
• Maintains appropriate licenser, registration and continuing education requirements.
  
• Educate, prepare and reassure patients and their families by answering questions, providing physical assistance and reinforcing physicians' advice regarding treatment reactions and post-treatment care.
  
• Instructs and counsels patients and families concerning health care matters such as use of diet instruction, pre and post procedure/treatment instructions.
  
• Facilitates communication and fosters teamwork.
  
• Ensures patient care meets appropriate standards.
  
• Ensures and promotes smooth coordination of care by communicating with multiple parties.
  
  Required Skills Required Skills:
  Graduate of an accredited Radiation Therapy program. ARRT certified Licensed by the state of CT
