Moderator - Master of Science in Medical Sciences The Moderator is
a critical member of the teaching & learning process for the
Masters in Medical Science (MSMS) at SCU. The moderator will work
directly with faculty and students in a synchronous distance
education environment delivering an evidence-based multi-modal
curriculum and using technology to enhance student learning. The
moderator will report directly to the Program Director for the MSMS
degree. The MSMS Classroom Moderator role is a position that will
be more focused on the in classroom technology and In Classroom
Session (ICS) logistics. The successful candidate will be a
self-motivated, fast-paced, well-organized, roll-up-your sleeve
support personnel and a genuine passion for assisting
nontraditional students. This position will likely not provide
advising support services to the MSMS students (depending on
candidate background). ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: As a
Moderator, you will be responsible for the following: Setup &
support the Classroom for In-Class Sessions (ICS) Setup Zoom
conference and audio / visual equipment for class start daily Solve
Zoom and/or AV equipment issues, e.g., technical troubleshooting
skills Moderate student questions during ICS session Facilitate
Dynamic Classroom learning methodology Assist students with using I
Clicker, Canvas LMS, and other educational tech platforms Assist in
organizing and moderating Small Group Discussions based on
Instructor---s guidelines Collect / aggregate student questions
During ICS, help students ask questions to the Instructor on Zoom
Before & After ICS, listen to students--- questions, issues, &
concerns and then communicate the questions back to the SCUHS
Instructor Meet with and provide actionable intelligence to Program
Director Working with SCUHS faculty to monitor student progress &
identify students at-risk Update the Program Director on weekly
basis with at-risk students & intervention / remediation steps
being taken Support / proctor exams Support students during exams
by helping with Examplify installation and issues Communicate and
troubleshooting exam administration issues with faculty and PD
Communicate with SCUHS Instructors Serve as a conduit for students
to convey their feedback to faculty & staff Alert faculty & staff
about student issues as soon as they are known, then help to
resolve the issues. Requirements PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND
QUALIFATIONS: Bachelor---s degree in relevant education, science,
or health science discipline required. Master---s highly preferred.
Experience using educational technology platforms used in higher
education, preferably Canvas LMS, ExamSoft, etc Strong knowledge of
current and best practices in graduate education Teaching
experience (preferred) Experience with distance education
Experience working with diverse student populations Excellent
written and oral communication skills, excellent presentation
skills, and the ability to communicate at all levels with tact and
diplomacy to achieve goals Demonstrated organizational ability and
attention to details Demonstrated ability to work across all areas
of a complex organization Demonstrated ability to work
collaboratively with faculty on health science education ICS
